Here are a few examples of established artists who use mark-making on toned paper similarly to the way you are using it in this class. Notice that not all of these artists are using warm toned paper and not all of them use exclusively black and white conte. Still they are good examples to observe and from which to learn.
Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec
John Currin
I remember you showing some of the John Currin and Edgar Degas pictures as examples for an assignment in Drawing 1 last semester, but I didn't realize Henri de Toulouse Lautrec did a different type of art than the one that he's most famous for. By the way, I don't remember you reminding us that we had a blog assignment due this Tuesday last class period. It's a good thing I checked the syllabus to be sure.
ReplyDeleteWhy does John Currin draw his subjects' heads slightly distorted?
